sanguis city, moved.

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

a while ago, I made “gothlolifun.blogspot.com”, to seperate my gothic lolita posts from my sanguis city and vampire media posts.
Since using both, I’ve decided to move SC to a blogspot blog too “http://sanguiscity.blogspot.com/”
just for the time being, to see how it goes down.
So far it’s been easier to use for me, so I intend to keep up my vampire blog over there from now on.

Thank you everyone <3

A seperation of convenience.

As much as I love SanguisCity.com, and having all my posts mashed together, having Lolita Fashion, random vampire films and SC comic specific stuff all in one blog seems a bit random.

SO, I made a new blog specifically for my Gothic Lolita posts;

http://gothlolitafun.blogspot.com/

“Goths Just Wanna Have Fun”!

Sanguis City will still be updated with comic news, and any vampire movies/books/series I fancy talking about!

Sanguis City for Vampires
Goth Loli Fun for lolita fashion

Just for simplicity :)

Lolita swimming costumes

“You can learn a lot of things from the flowers,
for especially in the month of June.
There’s a wealth of happiness and romance,
all in the golden afternoon. …”

And it IS June. And very, very warm. Infact, it’s what a lot of people would call “beach weather”!
Now, as boring as it may be I’m a typical little goth when it comes to summer. I don’t like the bright sunlight in my eyes, and I get heat rash on my legs and faint easily when it’s too hot.
Beaches are a nightmare, too much sand and saltwater stinging your skin.
I don’t even like ice cream.

infact, I might be the Grinch of summer.

A key issue for Lolita in summer is swimsuits. We spend the rest of the year trussed up, in blouses and petticoats and proper headwear. To suddenly strip down to something the size of MODERN underwear, and wear it in public… is a frightful idea.
Especially for those of us who aren’t body-confident (lolita or not).

Brands do make swimming suits occasionally. Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Metamorphose have both made swimwear. But they’re usually just bikinis with one of the brands prints on it.
Yes, they’re adoreable. And perfect if you have the money and confidence for them! (If I did, I would!)

But most of us don’t.

Victorian swimwear was different. Impractical, probably. But much cuter, and more modest.
Vswimsuit1

Look at that, with the little mop-cap and skirt!

vswimsuit2

If I could get a swimsuit like that, maybe I’d go swimming just to get the chance to wear it!
(Even the stripey gentlemans swimsuit would do. A girl-sized replica of that would be so cute)

So far, I’ve found replica Victorian swimwear on “http://www.ladiesemporium.com” to be the cutest and most affordable.
Maybe next year I’ll save my money in spring and buy a swimsuit like this for summer!

Then, lets go swimming! (Last one in the water is a rotten egg!)

Lolita Style Icon

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

There have been a lot of posts recently on the LiveJournal community about Lolita Style Icons. They’ve all been quite interesting, especially the ones that take inspiration from Non-Lolita sources and make it work with the fashion!
So this notion has been running through my head. Who is my Lolita Icon?
And I think it’s Wednesday Addams!
Here’s some pictures, before I explain my choice:
Photobucket
(Lisa Loring as Wednesday Addams in the 1960’s TV show)

Photobucket
(Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams in the popular 1990’s Movies)

When I was younger, I was told I resembled Wednesday Addams. And I suppose I did! If my hair got long enough, I tied it in pig tails, and nearly always wore dresses.
Then I grew into the gothic/new victorian style as a teenager, which eventually led naturally to the discovery of Lolita Fashion.
I like to believe my personal style toes the line between Gothic and Classical Lolita. Or at least, that’s the kind of style I go for, and Wednesday Addams is the epitome of a cute, gothic little girl in old fashioned clothes!

That’s why she’s my Lolita Style Icon.

(A few years ago, my parents, brother and I went to a halloween party as the Addams Family, naturally, I was Wednesday. If i can find any photos of it they’ll be added to this post!)

What a long delay. Life got on top of me somewhat and I haven’t been online much let alone planning blog posts!
(Do I still have any readers? lmao. Just you is it? ;) )

I’ve become slightly addicted to Tumblr recently. And upon discovery that it will auto-update twitter and facespace for you, I’ve probably appeared to be more active online than ever! Except.. I’m just a tumblr feind.

http://skybluepink.tumblr.com/

here’s a link^ I post mostly inspirational things, some photos of my own and some drawings of my own.

Over my blogging absence, I have been remembering to take pictures. So expect a small flood of Lolita Photos over the week :)

Happy Pancake Day!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I realised that I never post about everyday life anymore, and that’s probably because now that I’m not living in Japan I personally don’t find everyday life very interesting.
Mostly, I’ve been looking for jobs with little to no success. Over the last 3 months I’ve had uncountable rejection letters, and two interviews, neither of which came to anything. Still, the hunt continues!

Today, is Pancake Day. And pancakes are arguably my favourite food ever. So, this morning for breakfast I had pancakes:
pancakes
Yes, that is one strawberry pancake, and one bacon pancake.
And the same again, except bigger, for lunch!

Yesterday, I went to the UK Premiere screening of the new Evangelion films; Eva 1.0 and Eva 2.0.
Being and Eva newbie, I can’t compare it to the original, but I can say that it was pretty fantastic and I enjoyed it fully. There was a lot of people there, and a lot of familiar faces from other events and such. There was a great atmosphere, and everyone seemed very impressed by the films. (and so they should! They were great)
There are mixed opinions on the new character, Makinami Mari, but I personally really liked her.
Here’s a wee head-and-shoulders image of her with her pink plug suit and red glasses.
Mari
you know, my glasses were very similar to those.

Over the weekend, I went with Bry and his friend Steven, who was visiting from fife to Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis. Despite being from this city, I’d only been to the catchedral once before and I’d never been to the Necropolis before, so it was quite interesting.
Wikipedia informs me that the necropolis has aproximately 3500 tombs in it.
Quite impressive I think.

Merry Christmas!

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

and a Happy Boxing Day.

The snow is still with us, and it was the first white chistmas we’ve had in a long time.
Bry got me a camera for christmas! So I took some festive photos.
first, a practice shot of the fireplace I took from the sofa..

He also got me this cute little professor layton:

I’m wearing him as a necklace right now. (I’ll never be without a puzzle again… oh dear. Maybe he’ll be a little good-luck charm and I’ll be able to solve all of life’s troubles.. :p)

We went outside to take more photos, I was quite excited about it since I love snow. I took the oppertunity to take some photos of the park looking pretty.

Everything else was black and white except this tree!

There’s beasties out here in the snow!

It’s only Paws :p

And the path back home.

Christmas Dinner was huge and delicious, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There was a three-bird roast, lots of types of stuffing and cranberry sauce and all the usual favourites, it was very impressive. We will have leftovers tonight. Mmm.

The weather outside is frightful…

and I slipped on the ice! It was sore, loud and not at all elegant.
However, I did end up with a very loli injury since I landed on my sleeve:
loli bruise
That, is the imprint of lace bruised onto my hand!

Black and white isn’t a very popular combo in Lolita fashion these days, but I still like it.
Here’s some details too..

My frilly high collar, and the embroidered perfume bottle on the cardigan make this outfit.

Kunohe Kabocha Matsuri

Kunohe Pumpkin Festival!
For the last week, the streets of Toda (the south district of Kunohe, where I live) have been lined with various displays of pumpkins in anticipation of the Pumpkin Festival.
Here are some of my favourites;

See them lining the road? amazing.
yesterday, lots of people got together to help prepare for the festival that was to be held this morning. But there weren’t enough pumpkins for the festival! So, Fumiko-san, hareyama-san and I set off on a walk up the road to knock on doors and ask people for pumpkins we could take for the festival.
Soon, grahame, sakanoue and okadaira-san all came by and joined us. We had a team of Pumpkin Snatchers assembled, and the kindly villagers donated us enough pumpkins:

Then, or task was to hollow them out to be turned into Jack O Lanterns at the festival.

This morning, the festival started at 9.30, so our group from the english club got together at 8.30am to set up our stall at the festival!

…”When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?”
“and would you like some pumpkin soup?”

It’s not a festival without tradtional dances! see the line of pumpkins in the background? They were being measured for the heavyest pumpkin competition.
Within an hour, we were sold out of trifle and sandwiches.
Within two hours, we were sold out of soup too!
What a successful morning :)

Photos that don’t relate to each other.

Friday, September 4th, 2009

While waiting to hear about my potential new job (now that the pool is closed for the season), I had some spare time. During this time I kept myself busy, and as usual, ended up with a whole lot of photos that don’t relate to each other whatsoever! So here they are :D

First, is this beautiful blanket that came in the post from Mum! It’s so comfy, so soft. And so pretty.

This is Mount Iwate, as seen from the parking spaces in front of Aeon in Morioka.

These is the prizes inside a machine in the arcade inside Aeon.. I tried to win one for Bry but I couldn’t do it.

This is taiyaki. My new favourite snack food

This is a very steep downhill, taken from a quite high up a mountain road on the edges of Kunohe.

This is… a really flashy car infront of lawson in ninohe.
wait… what? lets see that again..

yeah, it is.

Here we have the most gigantic can of grape squash ever, and the tiniest bottle of blueberry stuff ever. I’m not sure I was supposed to drink the blueberry stuff straight, since it was really stong (in a non-acloholic way), but I did anyway and it was really nice!

And last but not least, “Fanta World”, because Italy is peach flavoured, apparently.

This morning I went to the nursery school to intoduce myself to the kids and teachers, I got the job there, and I start next wednesday! Sounds like it’s going to be fun <3
